U.S. Economy Added 158,000 Private-Sector Jobs in October, According to ADP National Employment Report
Private-sector employment increased by 158,000 from September to October, on a seasonally adjusted basis.
Highlights
- Small businesses (1-49 employees) +50,000
- Medium businesses (50-499 employees) +27,000
- Large businesses (500 or more employees) +81,000
Note: All size data included in the ADP National Employment Report is based on size of business, defined as an entity with a unique Employer Identification Number, which may include multiple establishments.

October’s job gains were in line with the average monthly gains of the past two years, with sturdy albeit less than stellar growth across most industries and company sizes. Businesses have turned more cautious in recent months, but that has yet to impact their hiring and firing decisions.”
