REGIONAL EMPLOYMENT REPORT

ADP Regional Employment Report: Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Nevada and Utah Among U.S. States with Strongest Private Sector Monthly Job Growth Rates in August

Mountain Region Records Strongest Job Growth Rate in August, Followed by South Atlantic and East South Central Regions

Highlights

Note: Employment by state is determined by the state location of the worker’s payroll. In most cases, this approach aligns with the Bureau of Labor Statistics' measure of establishment employment, reflecting the state where an employee works. In some cases, a payroll located in a certain state may include employees from one or more states outside that state.

“During the month of August, the Mountain region, which includes Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah among other states, showed the strongest monthly private sector job growth rate among U.S. Census Bureau regions,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, senior director of the ADP Research Institute®. “While growth held steady last month in a few large states, such as New York, Texas and Florida, California’s monthly job growth rate weakened. Together, these four states and Illinois were responsible for generating more than a third of all new private sector jobs in August.”
