REGIONAL EMPLOYMENT REPORT

ADP Regional Employment Report: Florida, Texas, Washington State, and the Carolinas Among U.S. States with Strongest Private Sector Monthly Job Growth Rates in September

South Atlantic Region Generates Largest Number of Jobs in September and Shares Strongest Monthly Job Growth Rate with West South Central and Mountain Regions

Highlights

Note: Employment by state is determined by the state location of the worker’s payroll. In most cases, this approach aligns with the Bureau of Labor Statistics' measure of establishment employment, reflecting the state where an employee works. In some cases, a payroll located in a certain state may include employees from one or more states outside that state.

“The South Atlantic region generated the largest number of new private sector jobs during the month of September, and together with the West South Central and Mountain regions, also recorded the strongest monthly growth rate, based on population,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, senior director of the ADP Research Institute®. “Meanwhile, at the state level, Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Washington State, North Carolina, Indiana, Ohio and Utah were among the best-performing U.S. states last month.”
